michelevr5 asked:

Congrats on finishing out your Vienna Teng appreciation project! Would you be able to somehow post an all-in-one, one for each album, so I could link to them? Beautiful work!

Thanks so much! I’ll be honest, it’s a huge relief to be done.

I’ve sorted and tagged them by album, so here you go:

Waking Hour / Warm Strangers / Dreaming Through The Noise / Inland Territory / Aims (Bonus)

queensthief asked:

it's weird to see vienna teng's lyrics illustrated with heterosexual silhouettes since somehow I always assumed she was queer... the art is gorgeous though

That did cross my mind once or twice, especially considering how some of her listeners interpret “Recessional” as being sung in her perspective instead of a male’s perspective. But I figured that since this was my project and it was up to me to depict what her songs meant to me personally, I could draw heterosexual relationships because that’s what I myself always pictured when listening to certain songs.

(Thanks for the kind words on my art, by the way!)

silentlyjudged asked:

I admire your art work so much and i adore your taste in books!!I was wondering if you had a few that you could recommend or which books you have read or something? If that's not too much

I’m so honoured that you would ask! And no, it’s never too much to ask about books (everyone is welcome to, I could talk about them all day).

Books that I recommend… well, it depends on your preferred genre, because my reading taste is quite eclectic. So I’ll try to list books from a wide range of genres -

1. Life In Outer Space by Melissa Keil (contemporary/realistic YA lit)

2. Great Expectations by Charles Dickens (classic lit)

3. My Family And Other Animals by Gerald Durrell (autobiography, humour)

4. The Knife Of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness [Chaos Walking trilogy] (dystopia, YA lit)

5. The Lord Of The Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien (fantasy)

6. Anne Of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery [Anne Of Green Gables series] (classic lit)

Thank you so much for asking! Hopefully this helps - I linked Goodreads pages because I don’t think my followers would take kindly to me yammering on about each book and why I love it, which would clog up their dashboards for sure. If you’d prefer recommendations for a certain genre, feel free to shoot me another message!

gilldoesbookstuff-blog asked:

Hi! I love your blog, and your taste in books, I see you read Night Circus and wanted to know your thoughts on it (I've been thinking about reading it for a while) thanks!

Thank you so much for following me! You have a really lovely blog yourself (I hated myself when I scrolled through it) Also, I’m honoured that you would ask my opinion about The Night Circus, and just a warning beforehand - this is gonna be a long answer.

Necessary TL;DR in case you want to scroll past the details: I liked The Night Circus a lot, but that’s just me. It depends on how willing you are to just sit down for awhile and take everything in, but if you are, it’s a magical book to take a meander through.

Four main thoughts -

1. It’s a very descriptive book, and you need to be fascinated enough by circuses to sit through all of the beautiful descriptions - I’ve seen a couple of people complain that they were bored by them because they wanted to get on with the story. I think this was my favourite part of the book though.

2. The story itself has at least fifteen different main characters, I think? Maybe more. It takes patience to remember all of the plotlines and when significant events occur.

3. Speaking of trying to remember significant events, the chapters aren’t in chronological order. Like, the chapter you’re reading may be set in a certain year, and the next chapter could be around twenty years later or five years back. It’s very fluid that way, which I loved, but when things come to a climax towards the end and the years start getting really close to each other it’ll be a bit confusing. It’s worth it, though!

4. You have to switch off your thoughts, especially at the end, and just read the outcome without questioning it too much. This is vague, sorry, but I don’t know how else to say it without giving anything important away. It might just be me who turns stories inside out and examines them from all possible angles, anyway. If you don’t actively question everything the author writes, though, you should be fine in any case!

Sorry for the ramble; hopefully it helps you out some. All of the above is mainly my thoughts plotwise, but if you have any questions about the characters themselves, feel free to ask and I’ll probably answer privately so I don’t annoy my followers!

Conclusion - this book is definitely recommended, so if you ever read it I’d love to know your thoughts when you’re done :D

arendellesque asked:

How did you learn to do typography?

This is a tough one to answer, because I’ve never taken classes or learnt under anyone… I’m not entirely sure where to start!

I’d always been interested in typography before I knew it was an actual thing. I really admired my sister’s work growing up, but I wasn’t the best at any font in particular except not-always-accurate cursive. I guess it was the appreciation that helped out in sharpening my skill - well-designed magazines, websites, Photoshop as a thirteen-year-old. Now, it’s Tumblr of course. A lot of Tumblr!

It takes time, that’s for sure. Time, patience when your work sucks without a doubt, and also knowing what works and what doesn’t work (especially when one doesn’t have someone else to tell them).

Hope this helps… my thoughts were all over the place, sorry!

Hey! Me again. I just saw your society6 page and Gosh, i want to buy everything CW related! But i wanted to ask about the dimensions first. Will you be making larger versions later? (sorry, i don't want to be annoying, but 10x8 seems really tiny :/)

Eee! Thank you for your kind words!

About that - I’m bummed myself, but 10x8 is the only size Society6 allowed me to make available - and I did upload the largest file versions I had of each piece. :[ So I think that’ll be the only size available.

deviantgrace asked:

wait your art is made on rEAL PAPER?!?! ALSO PLEASE JOIN THE CHAOS WALKING SKYPE GROUP IF YOU WANT AND GO TO THE CHAOS CHATS TAG IF YOU WANT TO SEE A GLIMPSE OF WHAT IT'S LIKE ALSO WE LOVE U

I do have art made on real paper, but those are mostly portraiture! Everything on my 365 project, including my Chaos Walking art, is done on my iPad.

Thank you so much for the invitation! I’m, uh, kinda really shy though and probably won’t join the Skype group, but just know that I feel so privileged that you asked :D

GAH ~involuntary flailing~ I love you all too!! Seriously, you guys are the best, most friendly fandom I’ve ever had the pleasure of being part of! You are all awesome!

capsicleized asked:

I don't know if this is okay to ask of you as a request, but if you're going to continue with your amazingly beautiful Chaos Walking quotes for your 365 project, what about this really lovely one from Monsters of Men: "Sizewise, she's always been smaller than me. But I think of her and I feel like she's as big as the world." (Also, if you're not okay with this, I understand completely.)

Thank you for reminding me of that quote! I’m running out of things to draw and write, and I’d brushed past that line in MOM before but forgot all about it. I would love to try my hand at it!

If anyone else has requests, please do not hesitate to let me know :D
